 Campus Preparedness & Resources

College of the Sequoias would like to  provide you with an update regarding our plan to deal with the Coronavirus The District has convened a 10-person Task Force that will meet weekly for the remainder of the semester in order to monitor and accurately inform students, faculty and staff about any updates related to COVID-19.  Our first message to students went out this week (see below).  We will continue to communicate through social media (community), reGroup (students), and eNews (employees).

In addition, we have taken several steps to minimize the risk of exposure, by disinfecting surfaces, purchasing hand sanitizing stations, installing plexi-glass in office spaces, requiring masks while on any of our three campuses, and more.

 Protecting Ourselves

The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19.  There are several simple everyday preventive actions that you can take to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. Please also review Things to Know about COVID-19.

These include:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
If you are sick, to keep from spreading respiratory illness to others, you should:

  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Generally, if you are sick with a cough, fever and shortness of breath, please call your physician. Your physician will give you instructions on next steps, depending on your symptoms.

Your physician will decide if you need covid-19 testing. The county health department will determine who needs to be informed about exposure after their investigation. If deemed necessary, the college will be informed of any possible exposure.
