​​​​​​​​​​​Prohibition of Unlawful Discrimination and Sexual Harassment

All forms of unlawful discrimination, including harassment, are contrary to basic standards of conduct between individuals and are prohibited by state and federal law and will not be tolerated.  The District is committed to providing an academic and work environment that respects the dignity of individuals and groups. The District shall be free of sexual harassment and all forms of sexual intimidation and exploitation including acts of sexual violence. It shall also be free of unlawful discrimination including harassment which is based on any of the following statuses: race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, or sexual orientation of any person, or military or veteran status, or because they are perceived to have one or more of the foregoing characteristics.

EMPLOYEE TRAINING

California law (Government Code §12950.1) requires all COS employees receive training on "sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention" every two years.  COS partners with "Keenan Safe Colleges" to provide this training to its employees.  COS' HR Department will assign this training to its employees as required.  Classified, confidential and management staff shall complete this training during work hours.  Full-time faculty shall receive flex hours for completing this training.
