  • 19th Century California Sheet Music - "A virtual library of some 2,000 pieces of sheet music published in California between 1852 and 1900, together with related materials such as a San Francisco publisher's catalog of 1872, programs, song sheets, advertisements, and photographs." Full images of every page and some sound files are available. 
  • California Library Systems Cooperative Song Index  An index to over 1,300 books, magazines, and other collections of popular songs compiled from seven California Library Systems.

  • Focus on Photography The basics and history of photography and links to many other sites.
  • Helios: National Museum of American Art Photography
  • Kodak  Although this site obviously promotes the company it also contains a lot of information that will help amateurs take better pictures. It provides a complete introduction to 35mm photography and has a link to teaching basic darkroom techniques. The Digital Cameras link includes an online "course" complete with review questions, competency tests and immediate feedback.
  • Photo-Net  This site opens up a world of resources ranging from exhibit links to equipment reviews to a "how to" section. The "how to" section covers both traditional photographic styles and digital technologies.
  • SayCheese - Site offers simple and short articles varying from purchasing a digital camera to using a digital camera. For those who want more in-depth information, try the articles and information in the professional section. Tips, Tricks and Tutorials covers flash for close ups, composition, lighting, and framing for taking better pictures. Also included are tips on how to crop and correct colors, sharpness, and red eye using Photoshop.

  • The Zone System for Color Photography The zone system is an exposure-calculation model developed and used in black-and-white photography. It can be adapted for use in color photography with advice from this site.

  • American Rhetoric - a site that provides examples of various rhetoric devices as well as copies of speeches from history to athletics to Hollywood.
  • Debate Central - Provides useful resources for debaters and debate teams.
  • History Channel - Speeches - Hear the words that changed the world. From Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I have dream" speech to Lou Gehrig's farewell to baseball, their vast collection is drawn from the most famous broadcasts and recordings of the twentieth century.
  • McGraw-Hill Public Speaking - contains a healthy number of resources, including some of its own online "booklets," plus links to outside sources. Some are helpful for preparing and presenting speeches, others discuss different kinds of speeches, and others present archives of historical speeches
  • Speechwriting Resources - Links to resources for the speechwriter, such as historical speeches, the Federalist Papers, and various writing guides.
  • Virtual Presentation Assistant - The Virtual Presentation Assistant is an online tutorial for improving your public speaking skills
