  • How Stuff Works  - a series of articles that explores the workings of devices from cell phones to refrigerators, and explains the principles behind things such as helium and pi.
  • How Much to Tip? - This site offers advice on calculating tips for a wide variety of situations. Including airports, Casinos, Pet-related services and much, much more.
  • Inventing Modern America from Microwave to the Mouse - In depth profiles of 35 inventors telling the often surprising stories of the creation of everyday objects.
  • Invention Dimension - Some information about the inventions themselves and some biographical information about the inventor.

Voter Information

  • California Voter Foundation  - Non-partisan information on the candidates and the ballot issues.
  • Project Vote Smart - A Voter's Self-Defense System  - A non-profit, non-partisan organization that tracks the performances of over 13,000 political leaders as well as legislation, and links to views of special interest groups. This site also gives current biographical information on government officials and how to contact them.
  • FactCheck - "Holding politicians accountable." Sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania, this site researches "facts" cited by candidates and makes corrections.

  • Internet Public Library -This is a gateway to sites. One gateway is geared toward young adults and another toward children.
  • Money 101 -  Created by the editors at Money magazine and its Web site, Money 101 consists of electronic lessons that help you invest, save, borrow and spend more wisely. The essentials of each lesson can be absorbed in just 10 minutes. But all lessons feature greater detail--including calculators, quizzes and a library of supplemental materials--for those who want to dig deeper.
  • POTUS Presidents of the United States   In this resource you will find background information, election results, cabinet members, notable events, and some points of interest on each of the presidents. Links to biographies, historical documents, audio and video files, and other presidential sites are also included to enrich this site
